Essie Penny Talk Nail Polish

I have always been a huge fan of Essie nail polishes, ok well not always (OPI is still better). Anyway, I had my doubts about the Essie Mirror Metallics 2012 Collection, until I realized there was a rose gold nail polish in the collection.

Penny Talk is splendid, I’ve never seen a nail polish that resembles the colour and texture of rose gold as closely as this does. However, there are definitely cons to the formula! I was solely convinced to buy this lacquer based on my long-lasting rose gold fixation. I wore this nail polish in my July Favourites and Radiant & Glowing Skin video, watch to see how it looks in motion. It’s much more beautiful in person!

These don’t apply like regular shimmery or satin polishes. This metallic polish has a non glossy finish to it. Unlike other nail polish finishes, this matte finish accentuates nail ridges. This nail polish also chips quickly, I wore it for a mere 2 days before I had to take it off. The application is tricky, too. It applies streaky for the first two coats and you’ll need about 3 coats to achieve the perfect foiled appearance!

If you are the type to change nail polish colours frequently, then this is worth it for you. When you’re planning to wear Penny Talk for a special occasion, I recommend painting your nails the day of the event and cleaning up the edges with a cotton swab soaked in nail polish remover. I’m generally very good at applying nail polish and avoiding the skin, but this lacquer was a bit difficult to apply. On the bright side, this could look great in a French tip manicure. I use to have the same issue with a matte nail polish from OPI and I now use it for particular manicures.
