Summer 2013 Luxe Box

My summer 213 Luxe Box arrived later than it should have due to a few reasons.

First, I needed to reactivate the service in order to redeem my $16 credit. If you can recall, Luxe Box changed the frequency of their boxes to quarterly and bumped up their price (that effected my balance..). I re-subscribed and paid the difference to get a final box, then unsubscribed.

Second, once I placed my ‘order’ so-to-speak, they sent me an email saying they had run out of their standard packaging. So, I waited another 2 weeks… I’m not bothered, I just thought I would clarify the tardiness of this post.

Summer 2013 Luxe Box

Kérastase Elixir Ultime The Imperial

I once received a Kérastase elixir in the winter 2012 Luxe Box.

This is a multi-use oil that can be used before and after hair styling. It claims to provide anti-oxidants to protect color-treated hair from external aggressors. Additionally, it adds shine, deep conditioning and nourishment to the hair. As an added bonus, it provides UV protection and has a soft floral scent.

I love getting hair serum samples. I’ve received the L’Oréal Professionnel Mythic Oil and Kerastase Cristalliste Lumiere Liquide in the past. Both serums live in my purse, travel bag or my beauty stash at my boyfriend’s house. The 3mL sample is great for on-the-go.

Cake Beauty Heavy Cream Intensive Hand Repair Balm

This has a hydrating formula made with Sunflower Seed Oil, 20% shea butter and it is 100% gluten free (I thought that was only important in food…). The scent; a warm french vanilla scent, which is to die for. It’s perfect to use after washing your hands to keep your skin hydrated.

Cake Beauty is Canadian and their products are made locally within Canada. I’m impressed with their ingredient list, hence the photo above.

A couple of weeks ago at Sephora, I actually tried the sample of this cream. I really liked the texture and scent. I couldn’t be happier to have received the full size product!

Essie Sleek StickSummer-2013-essie-Sleek-Stick

These are Essie nail appliqués, which mimic the feel of a handcrafted nail art and last up to 10 days. I have seen a review for these a while back, (click to watch, scroll down and see my comment haha) and I heard they weren’t very good.

Steps – 1. Clean and shape nails. 2. Select the correct size strip for each nail. 3. Peel away film. 4. Press on nail and file of the excess.

Condition Culture Colorsmash – CosmopolitanSummer-2013-Condition-Culture-Colorsmash-Cosmopolitan

COLORSMASH Hair Shadow by Condition Culture helps you achieve temporary highlights that add vibrancy and color to the hair. Their formula is free of chemicals. Application is done by rubbing the palette directly onto the desired section of the hair and sealing it with hair spray, then it simply washes out.

I’m not keen on this trend because I wonder if it will stain my clothes (though, I mostly wear black). It’s something cool to have in my stash for a special occasion like a concert, parade music festival.

Olay CC Cream

I’m impressed! Yet another full size product!

This is the Olay CC Cream with sheer coverage. It claims to provide instant coverage plus correction to fight 7 signs of aging; such as uneven tone, age spots, and wrinkles. It’s an all-in-one triple stream formula, which combines a daily anti-aging moisturizer, SPF 15 sunscreen and sheer tint for younger-looking skin.

Roberto Cavalli Just Cavalli Eau de Toilette Spray

Just now. Just free. Just lust. Just Cavalli. Just Cavalli! Just everything… you have to love fragrances and their silly taglines.

This is a creamy, sexy floral which opens with a dazzling top note of Neroli, an essential oil produced from blossoms of the bitter orange tree. The fragrance is followed by a magnetic heart note of the precious Tahitian Tiare flower and grounded by a creamy palissander wood accord that adds power and nobility. Fresh, intense and alluring, Just Cavalli is the scent of youth and seduction. (I ripped that whole description from the Luxe Box products’ page because I suck at describing fragrances…)

Full size $66 / 50mL

Loose Button Foundation Brush

This might have been the least exciting product in the box. We all know what a standard foundation brush does, so I’ll spare you the explanation.

This brush has soft bristles and doesn’t seem to shed. I can tell the bristles are not very densely packed; when I push the bristle to the side, I can easily see about 3mm of space at the edge of the ferrule.

Condition Culture Knotties Head Bands

This summer Luxe Box came with knotting head bands, which I didn’t photograph. I received two of these; one in black/gold and the other was red. It is meant to keeping your hair away from your face without causing creases. They just feel like an elasticated ribbon, honestly.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night SpaSummer-2013-Vichy-Aqualia-Thermal-Night-Spa

The Vichy replenishing & soothing spa sleeping mask is a gel-cream that is non-greasy and non sticky. A mask that is meant to offer the soothing freshness and softness of a spa treatment.
How to use – Apply a thick layer to face and neck (1-3 times per week). Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. You can also gently massage the skin with the mask on (DIY spa treatment at its best, I suppose).

Summer 2013 Luxe Box Overview

Sadly, as I mentioned in my previous Top Box post – I have unsubscribed to all beauty box services. I’m trying to cut down on expenditures and clutter in my collection (hey, it’s worth a try). Despite this, I’m actually impress with the Summer 2013 Luxe Box.

Have you tried any of the products from this Luxe Box? If not, which one stands out to you?
