Elizabeth Arden Moisturizing Lipstick in Desert Rose

A girl can never get enough neutrals, or at least I can’t. Today I’ll be talking about one of the Elizabeth Arden Moisturizing Lipstick from the Beautiful Color range. I have reviewed two other shades from the line and featured another in a tutorial. The line has a total of 36 colors. I can never get over how gorgeous these lipsticks are, they come in a stunning and weighty gold and silver tube.

These lipsticks were designed in part by Rebecca Restrepo, Elizabeth Arden’s first global makeup artist. I had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing her back in September, see here.

Product Claims

These lip sticks claim to moisturized all day. They are infused with moisture-enriched pigments that provide rich, lasting color and leave your lips feeling soft and smooth. Volulip™ helps to seal in moisture to give your lips a fuller, more sumptuous appearance.  Furthermore, it is meant to provide waterproof, smudge-proof color that lasts for 12 hours.

Key Ingredients

  • Moisture Enriched Pigments
  • Volulip™ for fuller, plumper appearance
  • Shea Butter – natural emollient that soothes and protects lips
  • Vitamins A, C, E – vitamins to help keep lips looking moisturized and healthy.

Application & Uses

Rebecca’s tip: “Start in the center of your lip and glide color to the outer corners, following the natural line of your mouth. Next, evenly fill in lips, using all angles of the bullet, for maximum conditioning benefits and long lasting wear.

Swatch of Desert Rose 17 on the lips

This shade is a lovely neutral rose with gold flex or slight shimmer. It’s one of those my lips but better shades that can be worn any season.

The shimmer is not ultra apparent. Similar to other shades from the Beautiful Color line, this lipstick applies smooth and feels moisturising on the lips. Moisturizing Lipstick Desert Rose 17 is the centre swatch above. As you can see, the gold shimmer is very subtle and does not have a gritty texture.

I like this lipstick and it formula. Thus far, Red Door and Wildberry are my favorite shades from this range. Of course, I haven’t tried them all, but generally speaking I love a cream finish. They are all long lasting (so far), but I rarely wear a lipstick for over 5 hours.

This shade has small gold shimmer that I’m not entirely sold on. If you like a bit of shimmer then you will love this lipstick. Though it’s not my cup of tea, the gold shimmer does add a touch of glamour to a typical everyday pink.
