Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation is a cult classic for its full coverage and ability to wear long hours on oil skin. It took me years to jump on this bandwagon because in recent years I have adopted a preference for lighter wearing fondations.
Fortunately, I was color matched at an Estee Lauder PR event for the newly formulated Double Wear.
In the attached video, you will see the wear test of this foundation on oily acne prone skin, how it looks in flash photo and natural light along with its performance with and without primer.
Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation 2C1 Pure Beige
The Double Wear claims include super long 24-hour wear, flawless, natural coverage. It has over 55 shades to cover all skintones and undertones.
The foundation feels lightweight, comfortable and unifies uneven skintone, covers imperfections. You should expect buildable medium to full coverage.
Targeted toward oily skin, it is oil-free, oil-controlling, waterproof, transfer resistant, meant to last in hot humid weather.
For the purpose of this wear test and review, I primed one side of my face with Elizabeth Arden Flawless Start Instant Perfecting Primer and finished off the application with a bit of MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Microfinishing Pressed Powder.
In addition to the foundation, I used the L’Oréal Infallible More Than Concealer in 327 Cashmere which I compared with the CoverGirl version you can check out here.
Is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation worth it?
I have come to terms with the fact that this foundation is a tad too light for my complexion. I was not sure if it would oxidize enough to match. The application was easy and offered great coverage, but gave the skin a dull flat look until my oils broke through slightly.
After 9.5 hours, I was already shiny but nothing like with other foundations. The Double Wear foundation held up wonderfully. It was, indeed, transfer resistent. After blotting, the coverage diminished a bit but still looked great.
I’m not surprised my breakout became uncovered over the last few hours since I have a tendency to brush over my nose.
Personally, as an oily combination skin type, I’m thoroughly impressed with how this foundation wore on the skin.
Have you tried the Double Wear foundation? If so, what is your shade and skin type – how did it fare on you!?
